Hi Sophia
My names Julie and I live in the uk
Thank you so much for writing that blog and making a stand for all of us especially girls like me who every day struggle to be themselves when no matter where you look whethere it be magazines or tv etc people tell you that you have to be a a certain size cause if not then its not acceptable and you feel like your nothing
In the uk we have a lot of great stores that cater to all sizes but then there are a few that dont and just stock clothes for thin people, these are also the kind of stores that if someone who isnt stick thin dares to walk in there you get funny looks etc there is a attitude that goes along with those kind of store that showyour not wanted in them if your not a size 8 (which I'm not) -

I am SUCH a huge fan of yours and I am really glad I started watching one tree hill because I now have a new favourite tv show and an amazing role model. I am crazy about the environment (like way crazy) and I try to do as much as I can for it. That is why you are such a great role model! You are sensible and kind and funny and an AMAZING actress and I really hope to be like you someday.

Dear Sophia,
I've been a fan of yours since One Tree Hill started when I was ten. I'm now eighteen and I still am a huge fan. You're by far my favorite actress, as well as your character being my favorite on the show, and you're so real about all the topics you discuss. There isn't another actress out there that is as real and honest as you. I, as well as every other fan of yours, appreciates this so much. You're a great role model on both body image and how you carry yourself in public as a star. You're a strong independent woman who is driven and it's something I definitely look up to.
Adore you lots,
Shannon (: -

Thanks for being bold and taking a stand! Girls appreciate it!, esp ones like me who arent a size 2 and struggle everyday to try and feel beautiful! I am 22 and have dealt with my weight since i was a freshman in high school. Not only was i getting it from the media that I needed to be thin but I was getting it from my father as well who bought be me scale for my bday to motivate me to lose weight. I have been on the journey of learning to love who I am bc this is who the Lord has made me to be. I have lost 30 lbs and have started working out and eating better but Im doing it for me so I can live a long healthy life! I wish there were more BOLD BEAUTIFUL actress like you! You just made a really big impact! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!! :) -

Hi Sophia! SO I love you charactor on OTH! Brooke is awesome. You seem to be a great person both on and off the show.
I completely agree with what you said about UO. Why would such a famous store make such discouraging clothing? thankyou for putting the awarness out there about eating right and keeping fit is the way to go, not eating less and starving yourself! THANKS SO MUCH!!! -

Hi Sophia,
First of all,I want to tell you that I love your character in OTH (and her clothes!!!) and you of course! You are really beautiful and natural, and a good actress.
Secondly, I totally agree with you about UO, it is outrageous!
It is great to see an actress fighting against the fashion industry and their dictates and cry loudly what a lot of women and girls in the world are thinking!

Hi Sophia,
at first I would say that you are my model. I find good that you use your fame for your projects...to help animals and people in need. I would do the same one!
I would like to ask you, how could I get an autograph of you? I am a very big fan of you. Unfortunately, I can not see I yet season 7 of OTH because I am from Germany.
Sorry my English.

Hey Sophia, first of all I have to say that I absolutely agree with you and I appreciate your organizational commitment. Nowadays more and more people are addicted to starvation and you show that UO did a big mistake with this t-shirt. I am glad that the world has someone like you.

Dear Sophia,
first of all thank you for writing this very honest letter. I'm from Germany and I was just watching TV when a entertaiment news program reported about your letter to UO.
As a former anorexic I was instantly touched by your words. I struggled with this disease for a long time and I've been in recovery for three months now. It's still very hard for me to accept my body and fashion statements like 'eat less' are making it even harder. But after months of starving myself I finally realized what I did to my body and I started eating normal again. Since then I gained a few pounds and right now I'm trying to embrace my new shape. So when I heard about this shirt I was pretty offended by it. Even if it was intended to be a joke, eating disorder is not something that you should make fun of. I can only imagine some staff members of UO coming up with this idea, thinking that they just designed this hot and funny new shirt, without even knowing how hurtful it can be or how hard the struggle with eating disorders really is. Because it's not just about fitting into a size 0 jeans, it maybe starts with a diet, but then it turns into a sick game that you just can't stop playing and somewhere along the line you lose your friends, your family and in the end you lose yourself.
So thank you for standing up for what's right. I admire you so much now and I really hope that other girls out there will read your letter as well and gain faith.
With love AND respect,
Conny -

dear sophia, thank you for being such and inspirational woman and a role model to many woman (theres not enough woman like you) you show that talent, having class and intelligence is what you need to be successful in your chosen career and that you dont need to degrade yourself and just wanting to be famous, and using your *fame status* for good ie charties etc.
thank you for the letter you wrote to uo myself i dont wear their clothing but when i saw the t-shirts they are selling with the slogan "eat less"on them i was disgusted as an anorexic from the age of 12 and now in recovery and at my lowest was 77lbs i think that its sending the wrong message out to woman/young girls it just makes them feel bad about there bodies and will end up making them ill.
it's great that you have given us a voice that we dont want the size zero to carry on that you should be healthy eat right and exercise and that it doesnt matter what size you are as long as your healthy.
thank you, your truely a beautiful person inside and out xx -

I just read your letter to UO and I am so touched to see someone using their celebrity to reach out and send a powerful message to help young girls, and women of all ages to come to see the seriousness of eating disorders. It's not a joke and consumes so much of your life, if you're lucky enough to survive through it and come to see the truth of what is happening to you. The road back to normal is a very long, long road which sometimes feels beyond reach. Kudos to you Sophia, you're a beautiful soul.
Kudos -

Dear Sophia,
I, personally am beyond grateful that you have stood up for this cause. I have been a huge fan for a very long time and dream to one day meet you as i believe you are truly inspiring.
I, like others, am a HUGE fan of Urban Outfitters although i completely agree with you 100%. I am so happy to know that you truly are a role model in real life and not just as a character on a very addicting tv show. I admire everything you stand for in your letter and words cannot describe the emotion I felt reading your letter to UB, expressing your outrage. I know how it feels to be bullied because of weight or physical appearance, and although i am not technically fat, I was still very offended as i am definitly not a size 0. I commend you and will always admire you.
thanks,

Dear Urban Outfitters,
All modern fashion promotes anorexia implicitly. Now you're going one step further and actually advertising it?
Okay, okay. We get that obesity is bad. Most Americans COULD do to eat less. Or at least, eat better.
But you know what? Obese girls do not shop in your store. Only thin girls can buy the clothes you market. Now you're encouraging them to "eat less."
Have any of your marketing executives had personal experience with a child with an eating disorder?I'm sorry to say that my family has.
It's heartbreaking. The obsession. The loss of concentration in school. The dropping grades. The sleep disturbances. The fainting. The chronic headaches. The weakness. The constant anemia and immune disorders. The easily injured joints and broken bones. The gray, broken skin and brittle hair. The fatigue and and lethargy.
And yet the obsession with thinness and size 0 and the refusal to change, even as she gets sicker and sicker.
I suggest you have your people download a few of the anorexia stories from INTERVENTION to see first hand the reality of what you are promoting. Which is basically, death.
Please think about this ill-conceived design, withdraw it from your shelves, and issue an apology. And do something nice for a group that helps those afflicted with eating disorders.
You've got a great creative line of products that I'd love to be able to go back into your store and buy some day.
